Barcelona- Montjuic

On our second full day in Barcelona we traveled up Montjuic, the hill on the southern side of the city.  We traveled to the top to tour Castell de Montjuïc.  To get there we got on the subway, transferred to a funicular, and then took a gondola up to the top.  Sounds complicated, but it was actually quite simple! The views back over Barcelona were amazing.  Unfortunately on the other side of the hill was the airport and the industrial harbor (not so amazing to see).  We had been about half-way up the hill on our bus tour because many of the venues for the 1992 Olympics were located here, but we were very glad we took the time to come back and make our way to the very top.

View of Barcelona from Castell de Montjuïc.  The huge church is the Sagrada Familia.  It was designed by Guadi.  Construction began in 1883 and they hope to finish it by 2026!  We drove around it on our bus tour.

Will was very interested in the Sangria we had up at the fortress!
