Today Will and I went on a tour of a dairy farm with our Moms Club. More accurately, we played at a dairy farm today. Some of the older kids learned about milking cows, the daily lives of dairy farmers, and how to take care of dairy cows. Will focused on playing in the corn box, going down the slide, running around, watching a tractor, throwing gravel, playing on the swings, and trying to climb in the pen with the cow. The whole morning was great though, and the tour guides really did a good job with a group of 18 kids ranging in age from 7 months-6 years.
Here are a few highlights:
| Why should I milk this pretend cow when there is already milk (water) in the bucket? |
| The corn boxes were so fun for all the kids! |
| Will was the last kid out of the corn play area. He could climb up the ladder and go down the slide all by himself. |
| Will really wants to be big enough to swing on this swing. Notice the rest of the group is feeding a calf at the barn in the background. |
| Our tour guide demonstrated how they milk their cows. Will tried to crawl under the gate and into the pen to get a closer look. |
| Gravel roads are fascinating to this suburban kid! |
| This rope was amusing to many of the kids. |
| We got to ride the barrel train around the farm! |
| Waiting for the train ride to start. Once we started moving he loved standing in front of me and holding on to the barrel. We passed a barking dog and a tractor which were both very exciting. |
