Busy Weekend!

We had a busy and fun weekend this past week.  Will and I started our weekend off with a visit to Aunt Sarah and baby Claire Friday morning.  As usual, Will made sure to point out all the ways Aunt Sarah and Uncle Todd will need to baby proof their house once cousin Claire is mobile.  Claire smiled at Will while we were there which was one of their biggest interactions to date.

After our visit with Sarah and Claire we headed into the Louisville to pick up my mom (Mimi) while my Dad was off to play in a golf tournament.  Will, Mimi, and I stopped for lunch and then made a quick visit to Henry's Ark petting zoo.  Will's favorite activities here were running down the gravel road and feeding the ducks.  He wanted nothing to do with the goats, which was surprising since he loved the goats at the zoo last month.

On our way back home we made a stop at my grandparents.  While there Will had fun playing on their porch swing, attempting to throw balls for their dog, and running around their house.
Chilling on the porch swing.
After dinner back at our house Friday night, Will got in some play time in the back yard since he still had energy to burn.

Saturday my mom and I took Will to the pool in the morning before we all headed to John's home town to join the whole Pollom crew for the Brass Band Festival.  Will made a brief stop to see John's grandparents on the way to the festival.  We had a table near the stage and Will actually sat nicely in our laps for dinner. (Probably because he was enjoying all the yummy food his Nana had made for the occasion.) Then he was ready to roam.  He discovered a nearby church playground while wandering with me and then he lead my dad back there later.  Will, Mimi, and I left after 9:30 and we didn't have Will in bed until almost 10pm.  (Of course he was still up a little after 7 am the next day).

The fun continued on Sunday!  We had a nice breakfast in Danville with everyone before heading home.  After his nap Sunday afternoon we headed to the local airport for community event designed to promote healthy living.  One of the runways was closed for biking, walking, etc.  Will thought walking along the yellow lines was pretty fun.  At one end they also had planes, fire trucks, the airport snow plow (which is huge!), and helicopters for the kids to touch and even sit in.  Will isn't very good at standing in lines so he just got in a small blue plane, but he loved "flying" it.  He had a brief tantrum when we made him get out so other kids could have a turn.  We could also watch other planes taking off and landing on the main runway.  Overall it was a really fun (and free!) event.

After we got home Will and I played outside (of course) with the neighbor boys while John cooked dinner.  What a great summer weekend!
