9 Month Check Up

Will had his 9 month check up today.  He is doing great and was well behaved throughout the check up.  It is crazy how much he changes between check ups.  I was able to take pictures of him playing on the examining table while we were waiting for the doctor at the last few check ups, no such luck today.  First,he wanted to crawl down the length of the table following the paper like a little track.  Then that was boring so he ripped up the paper.  Next he tried to dive off the table, and finally when the doctor came in he was trying to climb up the wall behind the table.  Thankfully he wasn't too squirmy while the doctor examined him.  No shots are given at this check up, so he was happy even on the way out!

Here are his current stats:
Weight: 22 lbs, 74 %ile
Height: 29.5 lbs, 86%ile
Head Circumference: 47.25 cm, 93%ile

Here are some other things he is doing these days:
  • Will loves to feed himself.  He isn't eating much baby food anymore (only about 2 jars a day) because he is able to eat so much by himself.  He has feed himself peaches, pears, mangoes, bananas, cantaloupe, raspberries, oranges, strawberries, avocado, steamed broccoli, steamed cauliflower, steamed carrots, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, peas, rice, meatloaf, shredded chicken, salmon, tilapia, bread, grilled cheese, cheese cubes, cereal, mushrooms, and tomatoes.  I am getting really good at dicing and slicing.
  • Will learned to clap yesterday!  He is pretty proud of his new skill.  He doesn't quite understand when to clap though.  Tonight he pulled a book off the coffee table, the book hit him in the head, he cried, and then proceeded to start clapping.  I have a video of him clapping that I will post soon.
  • Will and Baxter are becoming better friends.  Baxter sits right next to Will's high chair when he eats and Will has started dropping food on the floor for Baxter (I am trying to discourage this, but am having limited success).  Will also tries to chase after Baxter now and occasionally manages to surprise him.  Will also loves crawling under the table, which is one of Baxter's favorite hangouts.  Thankfully Baxter is always really gentle with Will.
  • Will still loves to swim.  He puts his head under the water on his own as he falls off the steps to me.
  • Now that he can crawl everywhere he has found a number of great new toys.  He particularly loves shoes (especially ones with laces), belts, ties, hangers, magazines, and plants.  He loves to explore and if the back door or garage door is open he will try to get outside.  His little knees are red from all his crawling!
